· In M.C. Mehta Vs. State of Tamil Naidu,1997 the Supreme Court of India has given certain directions regarding the manner in which children working in the hazardous occupations are to be withdrawn from work and rehabilitated, and the manner in which the working conditions of children working in non-hazardous occupations are to be regulated and improved. It envisaged a policy of gradual rescue and withdrawal of children to eradicate child labour.
· In PUDR Vs. Union of India, 1983, it was held that children cannot be employed in construction activity even if such work is not specified in the schedule to the Employment of Children Act, 1938.
