Legal Framework

·         Article 19(1)of the Constitution of India has been widely interpreted to include Right to Information within its scope. RTI is now a fundamental right provided to all citizens of India.

·         Right to Information Act, 2005was the landmark legislation that gave the right to the people of India to ask Government. RTI seeks to make the governmental machinery more accountable and transparent by giving the people the right to seek information from government regarding their money paid in taxes.
